EDC Las VegasJUNE 22, 2013
It’s 9pm at night and still 31 degrees C. It’s the longest day of the year here, a huge super moon hangs in the sky (where the moon is extra large because its elliptical orbit brings it a little closer to earth).
We’ve been invited to EDC Las Vegas to photograph some of the worlds DJ Superstars for Peace in 10,000 Hands. Electric Daisy Carnival is the world’s largest electronic dance music festival with over 300,000 people flock here for this event.
As we head out all you can hear through the double glazed windows are sirens and music.. we have our cameras , the rose and a bag full of ear plugs. Everyone is dressed up in crazy colourful costumes that comprise of very little…somewhere half way between a bikini and underwear combined with loads of colourful feathers, bangles, fur, face paint, wings, boots, glitter, bubbles. We all drip with sweat in the heat as thousands of us wait for the next buses to arrive. There is no violence, everyone is incredibly happy and peaceful and just being completely in the moment of dancing as busloads of artists and partygoers all head out into the desert towards the EDC grounds. P.L.U.R. Peace Love Unity & Respect – the mantra for EDC partygoers.
We finally met and photographed Tiësto holding the white rose for Peace in 10,000 Hands …This is one of the biggest moments in the project to date, he has millions of followers on the internet (check him out) he said he really respects the project and loves what we are doing.
Humbled and inspired. Thanks Tiesto, Steve and Andrew, much appreciated.
Have a great day / night.
